Birmingham City Football Club - The Blues
A mediocre draw yesterday against Pompey - but they deserved it and I don' want them to be relegated. They have a cool French dude who I think is going to do well for them as manager.
As a boy I remember they won everythin - what a team Norman Uprichard in goal and Jimmy Dickenson and Jack Froggat as wing halves.
As for the Blues - what a strange season - we seem to up our game for the big boys (the double over Liverpool) but turn off when it comes to competing against the minnows. However a football club is only as good as its supporters and ours are simply the best and most loyal in the country. They are also the most erudite - if you don't believe me go to www.birminghamcity-mad.co.uk . There you will find that unique mixture of superb Brummie humour mixed with pathos and a joy for life. We always expect to win the next game, knowing in our hearts that we might get a draw or be thrashed. But we turn up week after week.
And you don't have to be at 'Drews - in my perigrinations - in every town or village or city in the land I hear that accent and I say Blues or the Villa - in 98% of the cases they are Blues to a man/woman.
We are the Blues, we are unique, we create triumph fom disaster - we will never be defeated and one day very soon we will win all of the trophies that have shied away from us for the last 130 years. We are a family - if anyone has a problem or is in pain or grief, they know that they have 100,000 friends to prop them up and support them. May their God bless em all whoever he/she/it might be
