The Land Registry

This seemingly benign and non-political organisation is, in fact, exactly the opposite.
For instance, under it's current Chief Executive, in it's annual report a few years back it quoted a Peruvian minister as saying - and I paraphrase here, "The safe registration of the ownership of land is the basis on which all commercial activity in a state can be conducted". Karl Marx and several billions around the world would say that that is an intensely political statement from a supposedly unbiased Civil Service department.

Now to the point, dear readers a few years ago, I was one of a contract project team appointed to purchase new accounting software for The Land Registry. I took an instant dislike to the Project Manager 'cos of his arrogance, his tendency to slip out of important meetings to go see his kids play Rugby, and his penchant for breaking the Civil Service rules - such as "Whilst being in contract negotiaons you will not accept gifts or free meals etc. etc.". Which he did all the time.

There was no such thing as democracy, or the team voting for whom they considered to be the right supplier - he had decided that the company would be from Delphic origins. One young female member of the team had the temerity to e-mail, his highness, with a few pertinent questions. Back came a deeply offensive and sexist e-mail (I will spare your blushes) that included the comment that now the monkey had raised her tail and bared ----.

This nice young person was off with stress for months.

Then surprise, surprise, the Director of Personnel - Ted Coverup wrote to all of the recipients of the e-mail, in a signed letter, which I still have saying that if we were ever to reveal the contents of the said letter we would face disciplinary action.
But you know now how senior Civil Servants work and the hand picked bent judges that produce reports that whitewash the guilty.

Have no fear I am Gordon - these slumbering cuckolds will soon face disciplinary action themselves. And H.M. Treasury will tell them to divert the millions of pounds that they are making to us to use on social justice instead of wasting it on carp computers, which don't work, and selling their souls to Private Companies in the interests of cost efficiency. They must think I'm barmy.
Gordon
