CONTINUED - The InterNovella -

Flashback - why did I do this - because I had to. In 1954 I was pushed onto a Bedford coach, maroonn and pink, with silver linings, Sheppard's of ClyffePiper - in the playground of my school at Wootton Bassett and taken toSwindon.

Quite an eventful journey, only six of us were considered good enough to go forth and pick with our pencils. On the way in to this big city, going past huge council skyscapers, at least five flights high - and depressing in those early days, when they had just been built. For good reasons, Clem Atlee had decided to build homes fit for heroes. Stones were hurled at our bus - dents in the pink - the driver was furious and collared one of 'em and picked him up by his shirt and slapped him round the face.

Then the exam room ...

Gord elp us.
